“Bummit certainly is a challenge – it can test your determination, stamina and resolve. But more importantly it can challenge your perceptions of the world. It will teach you that ultimately the world is full of kindness and generosity, whether it’s an elderly lady dropping some coins in your bucket on Fargate or a young student driving you a hundred miles out of his way in Germany. Bummit exists to help the communities of Sheffield and South Yorkshire in overcoming some of their own challenges. This is why supporting the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind, along with our other charities, has been such a privilege this year.”
Bummit is a charity hitch hike, which raises funds for several charities by hitchhiking from Sheffield to a different location each year. Since it began back in 2003 thousands students have taken part and hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for local charities in South Yorkshire. We have also been supported by the fundraising of other societies in the past.
