VI Tennis has become a local success story, with professional coaching and sessions at Hallamshire and similar tennis clubs, plus regular opportunities to compete if you would like to be part of a great team of players. South Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis Club has the simple aim to increase opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to participate in physical activity, plus to grow a social network through tennis. The longer-term goal is to grow into an established VI tennis club for the South Yorkshire and the surrounding area that provides members with a relaxed environment to enjoy tennis, as well as encouragement and opportunity for those who want to play competitively. Our players are now travelling to tournaments across the country, but you don’t need to be another Andy Murray to enjoy having a go!

Coaching is supportive and friendly, and can get you from feeling unconfident to just standing without support, all the way to serving aces or consistently hitting the ball into a target container. Again, the attitude is that anything is possible and the club would be very happy to show you how.
