Occupational Health Student Placements

Occupational Therapy students come to us from Sheffield Hallam University for 3 days a week for a period of three months.  Their placements are arranged and overseen by the University; the students have regular supervision with an Off Site ‘Long Arm Supervisor’, as well as regular support from a ‘Learning Facilitator’ at SRSB.

The students are based at our Mappin Street Centre generally, although they do spend some time in the community.  They are able to complement our services by giving advice and support to clients about issues relating to Occupation Therapy both in the Centre and in the client’s homes; this can be extremely helpful.

For the student this is invaluable experience as it forms a sound basis for gaining knowledge and developing skills for when they are qualified and working with people who are blind or partially sighted as well as informing students of the services that are available in Sheffield for blind and partially sighted people.

Students have given us some very favourable feedback about their placements - see our testimonials.

For further information please contact us either by email or Tel: 0114 272 2757.
