“I’m Helen and I started working at Rotherham Sight & Sound, part of SRSB, as Business Support Officer in February this year, I previously worked for the NHS in a GP practice for 8 years as a receptionist, I loved the job but it became very stressful during Covid and afterwards. I love my job here at Rotherham, it’s great seeing all the clients that come into the centre and I love the guide dogs, but I know they do an important job so have to resist stroking them when they are working.

“It’s such a lovely atmosphere here, it doesn’t feel like work, I’m lucky I can get involved with the events here at the Centre, we have had some lovely afternoon teas, and I was lucky to go on one of the trips with clients too. 

I’ve really learned a lot about the different eye conditions and hearing impairment too, but I know there’s a lot more to learn. I’m proud to work here and I think it’s good to offer the local people in our area help and support, and sometimes that’s just having the time to chat to people and ask if they’re okay.
