Student Research

We have taken part in some preliminary research with a student from the University of Sheffield around the subject of online shopping for visually impaired people. We like to support these kind of studies where we can so that their gained knowledge will hopefully improve accessibility when they begin their careers.

Early in 2022 Amnah would like to expand her research to talk to groups of clients who are interested in taking part and it is proposed that this will take place on Zoom. Participants will need to be able to share their screen so Amnah can watch and take notes.

Pilot Study will need 2 to 5 clients

Study 1 will need 8 to 15 clients and it is expected to take 1/2hr to 1hr per client.

Study 2 will need 15 to 20 different clients and is expected to take 1hr per client.

Amnah has sent a criteria list below:

It will be greatly appreciated if you could recruit participants based on the following criteria

  • Age of minimum 18 years
  • Varied genders (to maintain research validity)
  • Absence of other disabilities aside from visual impairment and blindness (to exclude other challenges that may affect purchasing behaviour, such as hearing or physical impairment)
  • Experience in shopping online (at least once)

If you would like to register your interest in taking part in this study, please contact us on 0114 272 2757 or email info@srsb.org.uk and we will provide you with more details and dates.
