We need your help! We’ve had a request from some volunteers from the Ken Hawley Collection Trust which is based at Kelham Island Museum. In the New Year they are hoping to stage an exhibition about the manufacture and use of micrometers, as well as the people who used them. In particular, they hope to focus on the Braille micrometer that was developed immediately post WW2. They believe this was produced to allow injured servicemen to work in the Sheffield manufacturing industry taking precision measurements of engineering products. It would be great to hear from anyone who knows anything about these micrometers and could help the trust to bring the story to life. Please get in touch with us on 0114 272 2757 or email marketing@srsb.org.uk if you can help with this. Thank you! |
