SRSB has recently launched an appeal for a mobile information unit. The appeal aims to raise £50,000 for the unit which would be a valuable asset to Sheffield enabling SRSB to provide information and advice to a greater number of people regarding eye health and the support available to people with a visual impairment.

Blind’s new fundraising appeal for a new mobile information unit. Around half of all sight loss can be avoided, so it’s really important that people can easily get access to expert information about how to look after their eyes. The new mobile unit would mean that people of all ages, in communities across Sheffield, will benefit from this expert advice. It would also help people with visual impairments get information about products to help them live independently."
The appeal is also supported by Graham Moore, Trustee of Westfield Health’s Charitable Fund who says "Westfield has supported Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind for many years and we are very supportive of their latest appeal for a new Mobile Information Unit.
"The importance of informing all sections of the community of the benefits of good eye care cannot be underestimated. Early intervention and treatment can alleviate many debilitating conditions. So we congratulate the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind on this initiative and we will be pleased to support this worthy appeal."
The unit will allow us to visit public libraries, shopping centres, schools, colleges, businesses, care homes etc. to make information and advice available to the people of Sheffield.
