Blue Badge Renewals

SRSB and RSS logo

Hayley, one of our staff who is sight impaired, told us about her recent experience of applying for a Blue Badge, "I recently had a reminder to renew my blue badge via email about a month before expiry. My last experience of doing this was not pleasant so I did not look forward to it. However, when I accessed the information online it told me what I would need, and once I had dug my CVI (Certificate of Vision Impairment) and passport out I was set to go. I found it surprisingly easy, I took a photo of the documents as I was doing it on my iPhone, downloaded them to the link with a few other details and submitted. I had several emails updating me of progress, then an email of acceptance with a payment link. Again, this was easy to do. To my delight the new blue badge came about two weeks later. No problems and was relatively quick, the hardest thing was finding the documents in my ever expanding paper work pile!"

Please note for automatic entitlement to a Blue badge you need to be registered as Severely Sight Impaired/Blind or in receipt of the Enhanced Component of the  PIP (moving around section of PIP)  or high rate  DLA.

It is great to hear that this service is becoming easier, however, if you would like any assistance with this process please get in touch and we will ask one of our Community Advice Officers to call you.
