Meet the Team Jenny

“Hi my name is Jenny and I work at Cairn Home. I started in 1994 working in the kitchen as Kitchen Assistant, then progressed to Head Cook. In 2009 I went on maternity leave to have my son Sam. I returned to work in 2010 as Head Cook.

After a while I wanted a new challenge and became Activities Coordinator for a number of years, which I really enjoyed, especially driving the minibus and taking our residents on various outings like Blackpool. On one occasion I had to flag down a passer-by to jump start the minibus due to a flat battery; the residents found this very amusing and wanted to stay in Blackpool!

My role now is Utility Person which means I do a lot of maintenance around the home including maintaining the garden. I still drive the minibus for the residents to go on various outings.

I’ve seen many changes over the years in the décor of the home, and the menus have changed a lot with much more choice. There have also been changes in the residents’ care needs, but Cairn has continued to adapt to provide amazing care for them.
Last year we started work on the en-suite bathrooms and are continuing the work on these throughout this year. We are also in the process of decorating other areas of the home.

Last year I did the zip wire challenge in Wales with my son Sam, and we had a great time raising £475 for Cairn Home. I have nominated myself and Sam to do more challenges this year to raise more funds!”
