A Message for our Volunteers

Illustration of the word thanks in multicoloured letters

This week should have been Volunteers Week (1st to 7th June), which is an annual national recognition event for the work of volunteers across the country, however we cannot recognise it in the usual way this year.

Sadly we are unable to hold our usual volunteer appreciation evening to celebrate SRSB and RSS volunteers this year, but we want you to know that we are thinking about you, that we miss you, and above all, that we thank you.

During this week, we want to shine a light on our SRSB and RSS volunteers. Because even though most of you are not able to carry out your usual roles currently, we want to make sure that you all know you are valued and your work is very much appreciated.

We have many volunteers who do many varied roles, which ensure the smooth running of our charity. There are many different roles, some working directly with clients, some supporting services within the offices, some helping our fundraising activities.

Every single one of these roles contribute to the support that we offer our clients, so whatever your do, please know that your work does not go unnoticed. It makes a huge difference to our clients and we very much appreciate the time and the talent that you so generously give to our work.

Please be patient with us while we adapt to the ‘new normal’. We are still providing the services to our clients that we’ve been offering since the beginning of lockdown, and are currently expanding slightly within the current guidelines. We need to continue the work we are doing, look at developing other ways of operating in the short term, and resume our services in the long term.

We are very aware of how critical our usual services are to our clients’ wellbeing and we know that our volunteers play an important part in that. We very much look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we are able to.

We do hope that you are all keeping well and safe, and we will be in touch again when we have more news for you. In the meantime if anyone requires and advice or support please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 0114 272 2757 or email info@srsb.org.uk

With thanks from the team at SRSB and RSS.
