Apprenticeship Week 2022

National Apprenticeship Week is 7th to 13th Feb 2022, and we’d like to introduce you to Jake who began an Apprenticeship with SRSB and RSS in August 2021. He is working to obtain Level 3 IT Support Technician and the Apprenticeship will run for a year which will hopefully lead to Jake being kept on afterwards.

Jake explains “After completing education, there weren’t many opportunities available unless you had a degree in the relevant field that you want to join. Apprenticeships offer an entry into the chosen field. You get paid for training and have hands on experience that you wouldn’t obtain in a University programme

“Apprenticeships enable this crucial first step into the job market, allowing the apprentice to be in a secure career path in only one or two years from starting from no experience.

“It’s great experience and I work with lots of different end user devices from laptops, to phones and tablets, enabling clients to access technology and helping them become more independent within their day to day lives, bridging the technology divide. I work with clients who may need help to access work or stay within work and also with clients who need to gain confidence with technology, advising them on solutions for their specific circumstances.”

And as to the charity sector in which he has chosen to work “It’s good to liaise with different departments and keep expanding my knowledge of how the organisation works.”

Jake has fitted in really well and he is an approachable, knowledgeable and adaptable member of our team and we look forward to congratulating him on the achievement of his qualification!
