From today, we are entering another national lockdown. Like many organisations, we’ve been busy trying to adapt to the many changes throughout 2020 and like everyone else we’re hoping for a more normal 2021.
For now, our Community Advice Team continue to support clients of all ages with benefits advice, general support and issuing of equipment. Our Equipment Advisor Rob is on hand to advise over the phone. Our Emotional Support Officer Hayley is supporting clients.

Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officers, Sharon and Kate, based at the Hallamshire are still available, and currently working from home. Our hearing aid repair service for Rotherham and Sheffield clients is operating.
We continue to develop online activities, with regular and one off-events, postal activities such as our weekly Activity Pack and regular Children’s Activity Packs, and are establishing new telephone chat groups for clients who cannot access the internet, and continuing our Looking Ahead courses. We had resumed one of our outdoor activities in Hillsborough Park, at Cycling For All (unfortunately this cannot continue at the moment due to current restrictions). Our team of volunteers continue to call clients on a regular basis via our TeleFriends and also our TeleContact service.
We have are also re-starting our Tai Chi Group, although this is online for now.
Many of our fundraising activities have had to be postponed or cancelled, however we managed to hold our Golf Day and are still holding virtual fundraising quizzes – the next one with special quizmaster Paulette Edwards from Radio Sheffield.
We are working on our Winter Client Newsletter which will be sent out over the next few weeks, and our Supporter News is also due to go out, which will both have more detail.
Whilst we look forward to a time when our centres can safely reopen our doors to general visitors and activities, we are supporting clients with a variety of alternative initiatives for now and hope that everyone remains safe.
