Northern Ballet Performance

Northern Ballet logo We have been asked by the Northern Ballet to let our clients know about an audio described performance and have sent us this information:

Northern Ballet’s production of The Great Gatsby tours to Sheffield Lyceum Theatre from 21 March to 25 March 2023. There will be an audio described performance of The Great Gatsby on Saturday 25 March at 2pm, with pre-show notes starting at 1:45pm.

A free Touch Tour Insight will take place at 11:45am on the same day.

You are invited to the most glamorous party in town.

Lose yourself in the decadence of 1920s New York. Northern Ballet’s sell-out sensation The Great Gatsby is back.

Mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby has a penchant for lavish parties and beautiful women. As the sparkling façade of his world begins to slip, the loneliness, obsession and tragedy that lies beneath is revealed in one of Northern Ballet’s most treasured productions.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel is brought to life as dancers glide across the floor in gorgeous Chanel-inspired costumes to a cinematic score by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett CBE (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Murder on the Orient Express).

Bursting with passion, style and drama, don’t miss this blockbuster ballet.

Tickets for visually impaired patrons are priced at £11 upwards per person. Free companion ticket if required.

To book tickets or for more information, please call the theatre’s access line on 0114 249 6000.  You can also contact access@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk

Please make sure you say that you are booking for an audio described performance and let the access line operator know if you have any access needs. To book your free place on the Touch Tour Insight, please let the operator know that you wish to attend.

The live audio description will be delivered by ex-premier dancer Pippa Moore MBE and a specialist Vocaleyes practitioner, bringing the performance to life in your mind’s eye with vivid descriptions of the movement, action and drama that takes place on stage.

At our free Touch Tour Insight, you will gain a deeper understanding of The Great Gatsby as you hear descriptions of the scenery, with the opportunity to see and feel some of the costumes.

The pre-show notes take place in the auditorium through your headset or device 15 minutes before the performance begins. They will offer a detailed description of the set, costumes, story, and characters from The Great Gatsby.

Sheffield Lyceum Theatre and Northern Ballet are prioritising the safety of audiences, staff and performers with Covid-19 measures in place to help you feel safe and confident in your visit. Please contact the theatre for the most up to date information on the measures we currently have in place. If you have booked a ticket, any changes will be communicated to you by the venue.
