David Shepherd Retirement

Photo of David

We'd like to say a huge thank you to one of our longstanding Trustees, David Shepherd who has just retired from our Board, and who has made a real difference to our charity over the years.

He become involved in 1989 at the behest of Don Earl who was chairman at the time.

David, a local lad, was educated at Ecclesall C of E, High Storrs and then at Manchester UMIST, before practicing Optics in the family business throughout his professional career.

He was secretary of the Local Optical Committee for twenty years and involved in the inception of the Sheffield Diabetic Screening Project and other shared care ventures, also serving on the Low Vision Consultative Committee.

We have been very lucky to benefit from David’s enthusiasm, connections and experience over the years. He has been a very active Trustee who has supported many areas of our charity and been involved with our clients over the years, and we will miss him very much, although we know he will still be involved on a more informal basis.
