Supporter Newsletter Summer 20

Front cover of newsletter We have recently emailed and posted our Supporter Newsletter out. If you would like to receive this quarterly update about our work in Sheffield and Rotherham, please email info@srsb.org.uk or sign up from the home page of our website.

Below is the message that we sent out with the newsletter:
Dear Supporter

We hope that this communication finds you and your loved ones well.

We wanted to say a huge thank you to you for your continued support of our charity. The kindness and generosity that so many people have shown has been so uplifting and helped to keep us going through this challenging time.

Even though our centres have had to close for now, our priority remains the same; the welfare of our clients. We have been incredibly proud of our whole team and the dedication that everyone has shown for putting the protection of our clients and our charity first, and adapting to the changes we had to make.

We have had a small team still working to provide limited services for our clients; delivering shopping and medication (some photos above), telephone support, and also tele-contact volunteers making regular contact with our clients in Sheffield and Rotherham. Currently they are making over 500 phone calls per week. But we would not have been able to provide this support, and will not be able to provide support in the future, without the help of people like you, so thank you.

Thank you for all the very kind the donations we have received, which are all so appreciated, some from individuals, some from organisations, some anonymous. Thank you to devoted supporters like 94 year old, Graham who has raised an incredible £800 for his 2.6 Challenge. Thank you for the many messages we have had to tell us how vital our services are to people with sight and/or hearing loss. Your donations are helping us to continue our current limited services, and to plan for the future.

It has not been an easy time, with many of our fundraising activities events, collections etc. cancelled or postponed creating an income shortfall, but we need to be ready to step back to our vital services as soon as we can safely do so. If you are able to make a donation to help us, please visit: www.justgiving.com/campaign/SRSB-RSSCovid19appeal with your help we can carry on making a difference.

Moving forward we are currently investigating which, if any, of our services can be restored in some format in the short term and how we might be able to adapt our services to maintain social distancing until the coronavirus is fully defeated. We are very much aware of how vital our services are but please be assured, our priority remains the safety of our clients, volunteers and staff, and ultimately our charity.

Thank you from the team at SRSB and RSS.
