Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) volunteer Graham Bell has been shortlisted for the UK-wide Charity Today Awards 2019, it was recently announced. The charity is in the running for the ‘Special Recognition Award. SRSB is one of just four charities from across the entire UK to have made the category’s final shortlist.

The Charity Today Awards gives charities the chance to tell their success stories to both national and regional audiences, regardless of their size, through the UK’s most prestigious and diligent charity awards programme.

The Charity Today Awards celebrate and reward true excellence within the sector, awarding the work done by charities and individuals who continue to raise the bar by setting new standards each year.

UK Charity Week founder Lee Rayment, who heads the judges for the Charity Today Awards, said: “We want to congratulate all of our finalists, and in particular those who unfortunately did not make the next stage of the process. It was incredibly difficult to narrow so many quality nominations down, but we took our time to carry out our due diligence on every single application and we’re satisfied that we have the strongest finals possible. This is set to be a very inspirational and humbling evening”

Steve Hambleton, General Manager at SRSB commented “We are delighted that Graham has been shortlisted alongside other fantastic charities. It is very well deserved recognition, and we will keep our fingers crossed. Graham is relentless in his charity work, and we are lucky that he has been a supporter of SRSB for over 15 years! He has volunteered in the office, as a guide in the visually impaired walking group and supported many fundraising events. He has also done several runs himself! He is an inspiration to us all at SRSB!”

You can follow the awards on Twitter via @CharityAwards or by using the hashtag #charitytodayawards. Winners will be announced at a celebratory event on Saturday 7th September at the Key Theatre, Peterborough.
