Sport and Leisure Volunteers

Introduction to the Role

We need volunteers to assist with a range of sporting and leisure activities so that visually impaired people can participate in a safe, secure and friendly environment. This enables our clients to achieve a higher level of independence and hopefully make new friends. Most of the sports and leisure groups are organised by visually impaired people with support from SRSB.

Examples of some sports and leisure activies are: BowlingGoalballSwimmingRamblingArchery and Creative Writing.

Skills required:

We ask that you are a reliable, friendly, caring person and that you enjoy meeting and talking with people, with an interest in the group you will be supporting. You will need to be able to make your own way to the venue.

Time Involved:

Variable to suit the needs of the particular group.

Where the role is based:

At different venues around Sheffield or at our Mappin Street Centre and different venues in Rotherham or at our Ship Hill Centre.

You can read what our volunteers get out of different roles on our Volunteer Testimonials page.

In the meantime, if you would like us to contact you when our centres reopen, you can email us here: and we will keep your name on record.
