Aisling Staite signed up to the Cardiff Half Marathon in Oct 15 to raise funds and awareness for SRSB. She had never done any running before, but decided to take on the race because of the support her nephew has had from our Little Sparklers pre-school playgroup.
Aisling says “The staff and volunteers at SRSB are fantastic and the opportunities that he has had as part of the group has definitely helped with his growth into a gorgeous, loving and cheeky 4 year old who won't let anything stop him! He inspires and motivates me every day and kept me going during my training.”
However, just before the race, Aisling had an accident and injured her ankle.

So after all her hard work training, she had to pull out of the race. This is a devastating decision when you have been training for so long and Aisling was very upset. But this is where her friends stepped in! One of her friends who was running in the race offered to wear Aisling’s SRSB vest and run on behalf of our charity and finished the race in 3hrs and 3mins!!
Aisling is pictured here celebrating with her friends at the end of the race. We know how hard it must have been to watch instead of taking part, so thank you to Aisling, and big thanks to her lovely friends for stepping in and raising £320.29 in total!!
Aisling is still hoping to run in another half as soon as she is recovered, so we wish her a speedy recovery.
