Writing a Will

Photograph of pen and paper

A will is one of the most important documents you will ever make. It’s the only way to secure the future of the people and causes you care about.

It is quite straightforward to make a will and can be done fairly simply by seeking advice from a solicitor who will be able to offer you the best advice. You can find a solicitor by using the Law Society, but if you need any help, then please contact SRSB. Wills, unless complex, are not usually expensive with some solicitors charging less than £100 for a basic will.

You can change your will as often as you wish. It is very important to update your will regularly to ensure it reflects your current wishes.

However If you already have a will and you wish to add a legacy there is no need to change the whole will. You simply need to fill in a short from called a codicil with your instructions. Again, your solicitor can help with this.
