Mentoring Volunteer

Introduction to the Role

Mentoring volunteers will work with clients and/or their families on a one-to-one basis, offering support in a variety of ways. Mentoring is a role that encourages and supports people who may need to develop confidence and/or skills to achieve whatever they aspire to be.

You will be working independently although you will be supervised by Dyane Midgley, our Volunteer and Training Co-ordinator. Other staff may also be involved, dependent upon the circumstances of the client you are supporting.

Where the role is based:

To suit our client’s circumstances.

Time Involved:

Flexible to suit both the volunteer and the client.

Skills required:

We ask that you are a committed, positive, friendly and caring person who understands the importance of confidentiality. You should enjoy meeting and talking to people on a one-to-one basis as well as being a good listener. You will need to be able to travel independently to the agreed meeting place.

Volunteers complete a report sheet after each visit, so communication skills are important.
