Sheffield Stays In. Saturday 30th May 2020 onwards

Well, we’re all a bit fed up of staying in at the moment, SO... let’s make it FUN!

Our annual event has taken on another meaning this year, but while we’re doing our bit by staying in and social distancing, you could raise funds for our charity and help us support people with sight and/or hearing loss locally.

Ask your friends/family to donate to take part and get creative. Here are a few ideas:

  • Virtual Fancy Dress: Pick a theme, get your friends/family to dress up with what thet have available, have a competition for best costume.
  • Virtual Coffee Morning: Have coffee, cake and chat with your friends/family.
  • Virtual Quiz: Hold an online quiz with friends/family.
  • Virtual Fancy Hat Competition: Make the fanciest hat with what you have available, have a competition for the most fancy!
  • Virtual Performance: Hold a mini performance for friends/family if you have a talent for singing, poetry, comedy, magic tricks etc
  • Virtual Birthday Party: If it happens to be your birthday during the lockdown, you could hold a virtual party.
  • Virtual get together: Just use it as an excuse to have a catch up with friends/family.
  • Or just use your imagination....

What is it?

Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) is asking Sheffield to stay in! Our dream is that there will be hundreds of people across the city taking part in this event and helping us to raise funds and awareness for our charity.

We focus around one day, but if this date isn’t appropriate, then please choose another to suit you.

Why should I do it?

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel or postpone several fundraising events and collections, causing an income shortfall. So this is a way that you can help visually impaired people in Sheffield during the lockdown.

We are currently providing essential services for our clients with a reduced team, so you will be helping us to provide this support and also to plan for rebuilding our services as soon as we can.

Your support will help us to maintain the vital services we offer over 3,600 clients in Sheffield.

What do I do now?

  • Let us know you are hosting a party (contact details below).
  • Set up a Just Giving page in support of SRSB (search for SRSB and then choose 'Sheffield Stays In' from the list of events), then ask your friends to make a donation to your event/page.
  • OR just ask your friends/family to visit our Just Giving page to make a donation to take part: www.justgiving.com/campaign/SRSB-RSSCovid19appeal
  • Send us some pictures afterwards and we'll share a selection on social media.
